HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALLTOURNAMENTS POSTPONED
The inclement weather has reeked after on the first day of multiple high school basketball tournaments all across Oklahoma. No one in the Paragon Sports network played any games today and the tournaments they were participating in have different options moving forward depending on which bracket certain teams are playing in this week. Elk City’s tournament bracket at Noble has changed a bit. It will now be a Friday, Saturday, Monday event. The Elkettes are now scheduled to play Mt. St Mary at 4:00 tomorrow afternoon with the Big Elks to follow at 5:30 against Blanchard.
The Merritt Classic has changed a little bit. Canutes Trojanettes will play tomorrow at noon against Mangum. The Trojans face Mooreland at 1:10. The Merritt Oilers will play Turpin at 5:50 while the Merritt Oilerettes get Frederick at 7.
The Warrior Classic at Hammon has changed at bit. The Lady Warriors are now scheduled to play Vici tomorrow at 11:30. The Warriors will face Boise City at 3:15.
The Western Equipment Classic will finish up on Saturday. They just moved the top 4 seeds into the winner’s side of the bracket while the bottom 4 seeds went into the consolation bracket. That means we’ll have the Cheyenne-Reydon Lady Bears taking on L-S tomorrow at 3:50. The Bears face Am-Po at 5:10. AB’s Lady Inidans will take on AM-Po at 6:30 with the Indians facing SW Covenant at 7:50

OU BLOWS HUGE LEAD AND FALLS TO 0-2 IN THE SEC
It was a party in Norman last night until it wasn’t with Texas A&M in town. Oklahoma led 51-33 with about 15 minutes left in the game in their first SEC home game. A win over the #10 team in the country for the Sooners’ first SEC win was all but assured. And that’s the key phrase, all but assured. OU blew the 18 point lead and lost 80-78 when A&M took the lead with about 20 seconds left. OU’s now 13-2, 0-2 in the league with a game in Athens against Georgia coming up on Saturday.
THUNDER/CAVS PLAY A BEAUTY
The Ok City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers squared off in a huge regular season NBA game for a random Wednesday in January. Both teams had 30 wins in the first 35 games. It was a back and forth tilt that featured 30 lead changes and 9 ties. Cleveland won their 11th straight and snapped OKC’s 15 game win streak in a 129-122 win over the Thunder. SGA had 31 and Jalen Williams added 25 in the loss. Ok City gets tonight off before a trip to Madison Square Garden tomorrow night to face the Knicks.
CUMMINS MAKES PGA TOUR DEBUT
Wford’s Quade Cummins is making his season debut as a card carrying PGA Tour member this afternoon at in Hawaii at the Sony Open. Quade shot one over on his opening 9 then made a double bogey on number 11 to sit 3 over par through 11 holes. He bounced back with a birdie on his next hole and is 2 over with 5 holes left in his opening round. He’ll need to finish strong and probably shoot something under par tomorrow in order to make his first cut of the season on the Tour.
