HIGH SCHOOL HOOPS RANKINGS RELEASED
The first high school basketball rankings were released this afternoon for class 2A, A, and B. The defending 2A girls state champs are the Merritt Oilerettes. Merritt will start their title defense ranked 4th in 2A. Merritt received 5 of the 49 available first place votes. Dale, the team Merritt beat in the finals sits atop the first rankings. In Class A girls, Canute’s 6th. The Trojanettes got 3 first place votes out of the 72 first place votes. C-R’s #10. Seiling’s atop the Class A Girls rankings. In Class B the Hammon Lady Warriors are #2. Hammon’s behind only defending champ Lomega. Hammon recieved 24 first place votes while Lomega got 64. Arnett checks in at 5, Leedey’s 12, MVG 17. On the boys side of things, Merritt’s number 11. In Class A Okarche’s the defending state champ starts at 1. H-E’s 19th. In Class B Wilson (Henryetta) will start atop the polls after winning the gold ball last year. Calumet’s 2nd, Granite’s 4th, Hammon’s 5th, Duke 7, Leedey 11, FCB 17th, Vici 18, Sentinel 19.

STATE SCHOOLS WRAP UP DISAPPOINTING REGULAR SEASONS
Both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma wrapped up wildly disappointing seasons on the college football gridiron. Oklahoma St traveled to Boulder on Black Friday for a morning game against Colorado. The Buffaloes scored early and oftern in a 52-0 beat down of the Pokes. Oklahoma St ends the season 3-9, losing their last 9, all conference games. Oklahoma didn’t do much better down in Baton Rouge. OU led 14-10 in the second quarter before LSU mashed the gas and blew out the Sooners 37-17. Oklahoma finishes 6-6 and now waits to see what bowl game they’ll play
OU SETTLES ON BEN ARBUCKLE AS OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR
Now that the dust has settled on the season everyone’s focus has shifted to coaching changes at both schools. No news out of Stillwater yet, but that’s not the same in NOrman. AFter firing offensive coordinator Seth Littrell midseason, Brent Venables has reportedly named 29 year old Ben Arbuckle from Washington St as the new OC. Arbuckle has been calling plays with for the Cougs the last couple years. His experience is also associated with coaching QBs.
THUNDER END SUCCESSFUL ROAD TRIP WITH LOSS
The Ok City Thunder ended a great road trip on a sour note last night in Houston. OKC beat Golden ST on Wednesday and the Lakers on Friday before falling 119-116 to the Rockets last night. The Thunder end the 5 game road swing 4-1 and will try to get into the NBA Cup finals tomorrow night back at home against Utah.
