HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS 

The Class 2A-A-B Regional tournaments tipped off this afternoon after a one day delay due to the winter weather. We’ve already had some elimination games completed this afternoon in various locations. Over in Canute A-B Lady Indians kept their season alive with a 62-38 win over the Academy. They’ll play tomorrow night at 6 in Canute against the loser of tonight’s Cheyenne-Reydon/Turpin game. There were 3 elimination games in boys regional tournaments. In Class A AB’s season is over after falling to Apache 37-32. Cheyenne-Reydon was eliminated as well after a 43-37 loss to Turpin. 

Tonight we’ll have winner’s bracket action in those regional tournaments. At 6:00 on the girls side we’ll have Merritt and Hinton in 2A, C-R vs Turpin and Canute against Apache in Class A, Hammon plays FCB and Leedey faces Timberlake in Class B. At 7:30 it’s boys’ winner’s bracket action. Canute gets The Academy in Class A. Erick play Granite, Leedey tangles with Vici, and Hammon gets FCB in Class B. The larger classes will start District Tournaments tonight. Elk City will host a 4A District tonight inside the Pioneer Center with Woodward in town. The Elkettes defeated the Lady Boomers all the way back in December in the season opener. The Boomers have beaten the Big Elks twice, both in the first couple weeks of the season. If you can’t make it out to the Pioneer Center tonight, we’ll have it live streamed on bigelktv.com. Pregame gets going around 5:45 ahead of the 6 o’clock tip 

THUNDER IN UTAH TONIGHT 

The Ok City Thunder will hit the court for the first time out of the All Star break tonight in Salt Lake City against the Jazz. OKC leads the western conf standings by 8 games with just under 30 left in the regular season. They’re in a battle with Cleveland for the league’s best record and home court throughout the playoffs, including a potential NBA Finals matchup. You can hear Thunder/Jazz live on 98.1 fm and 1240 am. Pregame starts at 7 with the tip to come at 8:30. 

CUMMINS MAKES THE CUT IN MEXICO 

Wford’s Quade Cummins is going to make his second cut of the season ont he PGA Tour down in Puerto Villarta, Mexico. Quade shot 2 under 69 yesterday then followed that up with a 3 under 68 today to sit 5 under total in a tie for 38th. Cummins will have two more rounds this weekend to try and move up the leaderboard into contention on the PGA Tour
