Medal of Honor Recipient and Merritt Graduate to Be Inducted into Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame

Army Master Sergeant Earl D. Plumlee, a 2021 Medal of Honor recipient and Merritt graduate, will be inducted into the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame on October 26 at the Embassy Suites, located at 2501 Conference Drive in Norman.

Born in 1980 in Clinton, Plumlee grew up on a farm in Merritt. He joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 1998 before enlisting in the Marines in 2000, where he served as a Force Reconnaissance Marine with a deployment to Iraq. In 2009, Plumlee transitioned to the Army, becoming a Special Forces soldier.

For his heroic actions in Afghanistan on August 28, 2013, Plumlee was awarded the Silver Star, which was later upgraded to the Medal of Honor in 2021. He retired from active duty in 2023.
