The
Elk City Fire Department had a bustling November, responding to 54
fire and rescue-related calls and 190 emergency medical service (EMS)
calls. As the holiday season approaches, firefighters are urging the
community to stay safe and warm, especially following a major
incident last weekend.

In
the early morning hours of last Saturday, C-shift crews were
dispatched to a structure fire in the 400 block of W. 6th Street
around 2 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy flames
engulfing a residence. Crews swiftly brought the fire under control.
Fortunately, the home was vacant, and no injuries were reported.

The
fire has been classified as arson and is under investigation with
assistance from the Elk City Police Department. Officials encourage
anyone with information to come forward to aid in the ongoing
investigation.
