House
Speaker-Elect Kyle Hilbert has unveiled a new committee structure
designed to improve the deliberation and vetting process for proposed
legislation. The reorganization introduces a two-tiered structure of
committees and oversight committees, creating opportunities for more
thorough review and consideration of bills before they reach the
House floor. This approach mirrors the existing appropriations
committee framework, extending its detailed deliberation process to
policy committees.
As
part of the changes, Hilbert named committee leadership, including
Rep. Nick Archer, R-Elk City, as the Chair of the Energy Committee.
Archer will work alongside Vice Chair Rep. Ken Luttrell, R-Ponca
City, to oversee vital legislation related to Oklahoma’s energy
sector.
