Fatality Collision in Greer County Claims One Life

A fatal off-road vehicle collision occurred on the night of September 10 at approximately 11:07 PM in a field near the intersection of North 2030 Road and East 1465 Road, about 4.5 miles south and one mile east of Granite.

The crash involved a 2024 Polaris side-by-side vehicle. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is still trying to determine who was driving the UTV. Two occupants were ejected from the vehicle during the crash, both sustaining critical injuries.

33-year-old Rowdy Duke of Granite was flown to OU Trauma in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in critical condition with head injuries. Despite medical efforts, Duke succumbed to his injuries on September 18.

36-year-old Landon Roberts of Mangum was also seriously injured and flown to OU Trauma. He remains in critical condition with head injuries.

The incident occurred as the vehicle was traveling westbound through a field when it lost control and entered a broad slide. The side-by-side rolled multiple times, ejecting Duke. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels.

The exact conditions of the occupants and the cause of the collision remain under investigation. It has been confirmed that neither man was wearing a seatbelt.
