Crews from the Elk City Fire Department were called to the north side of Elk City for a grass fire that broke out at around 10:30p.m. Tuesday night.
Officials said crews were able to gain control the fire quickly however over 60 hay bales were destroyed.
Fire Department personal remained on scene most of the night and into the next morning to unsure the fire threat was mitigated.
The fire comes a day before when the National Weather Service in Norman says there is potential for wild fires throughout the day.
Meteorologist have issued a red flag warning from noon until 7p.m. Wednesday for much of Oklahoma west of Interstate 40 due to low humidity and gusty southwest winds that will create near critical
to critical fire weather conditions across portions of western Oklahoma.
Fire officials ask that you refrain from any outdoor burning today and use extreme caution with anything that could cause a spark.
