The Oklahoma City Thunder didn’t have much luck in the lottery a year ago but drafted Josh Giddey at 6 who looks to be one of the better picks of last year’s draft.
Last night the lottery luck shined down on OKC when the Thunder netted the 2nd overall pick in this year’s draft. The Thunder franchise has had an amazing amount of success drafting 2nd overall.
While in Seattle the organization drafted Gary Payton in 1990 and Kevin Durant in 2007. GM Sam Presti has been unparalleled drafting in the top 5.
In 4 selections to this point in the top 5, Presti has drafted Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and Jeff Green. 3 Hall of Famers who’ll end up top 50 players of all time, and a guy in Green who’s played 15 seasons in the NBA. The Thunder also own the 12th and 30th selections in this year’s first round. They’ll pick 34th, the 4th selection in the 2nd round.
